Applicants

Please make sure you are familiar with our Application Process before submitting a Letter of Inquiry or Letter of Intent.

New Applicants

If you have never received a grant from the Town Creek Foundation, or if you have not received one within the last 18 months, we consider you a new organization, and we require you to submit a letter of inquiry. Through this letter you are essentially requesting an invitation to submit a full proposal. There are no exceptions to this requirement. If you have never received a grant from the Town Creek Foundation, or if your last grant from us was more than 18 months ago, we will not consider a proposal from you unless we have explicitly invited that proposal in response to a letter of inquiry.

A successful Letter of Inquiry will persuade us of several things. First, it will persuade us that the work for which support is sought is sound, important, and well aligned with Town Creek's programmatic and geographic priorities. Second, it will persuade us that the organization seeking support is capable of successfully carrying out that work. The more clearly and concretely the letter addresses these points, the better its chances for success.

Returning Grantees

Organizations that have received support from us between 9 and 18 months ago are considered renewing organizations, and are required to submit a letter of intent rather than a letter of inquiry. The purpose of the letter of intent is simply to alert us to expect a proposal from the organization by the stipulated deadline, in order to help us to predict the size and shape of our docket. We will respond to a letter of intent with a brief note acknowledging that it has been received. Renewing organizations do not have to be invited to submit full proposals. We will not, however, consider a full proposal from a renewing organization unless we have received a letter of intent by the stipulated deadline.
